I hold a B.A. from Colgate University and a Ph.D. in economics from MIT. In my previous career, I was a professor at Harvard Business School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. I published my research on innovation, entrepreneurship, and international trade in leading economics and management journals. I taught operations management, strategy, and design thinking to both MBAs and undergraduates. (View my academic CV here.)

Over time, I realized that what energized me the most was not publishing papers or teaching abstract concepts, but helping people solve concrete challenges that lead to tangible benefits in their lives. A crucial seed for my career transition was planted when, during my final year of teaching at Georgia Tech, I asked my undergraduate students to write a course reflection in lieu of a final exam so that they can cement their learnings from the course. One question asked them to describe the most memorable learning moments from the course. I had expected students to share key discussions that we had where the class made tremendous progress on learning course concepts. To my surprise, multiple students mentioned my office hours and the impact of having one-on-one conversations.

My doctoral thesis studied the career choices and inventive output of MIT alumni.
